Versailles is far more than the château and its gardens. Behind the postcard, there's a living city with its residential neighbourhoods, its shopping streets around rue de la Paroisse and rue des Réservoirs, and a genuine community of independents and remote workers who have chosen to live west of Paris without sacrificing their professional life. RER C and the train lines to Paris put the capital 30 minutes away, but on the days when you don't need to go there, Versailles has what it takes to welcome you for a good day's work.
We've scoured the city to find the best spots for setting down your laptop. From well-equipped coworking spaces to warm cafés, here is our selection.
Pouce Café
Rue d'Anjou, in the Saint-Louis neighbourhood. Pouce Café is the reference address for coworking in Versailles, and for good reason. The space is friendly, quiet, and offered at very affordable rates. You'll cross paths with entrepreneurs, consultants, remote employees — a mix of profiles that creates a stimulating atmosphere without being noisy. The place also hosts collaborative workshops, which adds a valuable networking dimension when you work alone every day.
Solid Wi-Fi, accessible power outlets, large tables, and food available on-site. Pouce Café has been recommended by Passion Télétravail, Paris à l'Ouest, Wezoo, zOOm Versailles, Workmap, and Neo-Nomade. Versailles in My Pocket has also covered it in detail. It's the kind of place everyone agrees on. Open Tuesday to Friday, from 9am to 7pm. Closed weekends and Monday.
Our favourite in Versailles, hands down. The quality-price-atmosphere ratio is unbeatable.
L'Atelier Versailles
Rue des États Généraux, right in the centre. L'Atelier offers flexible coworking with a small extra that makes the difference: a terrace for fresh air and a lounge area for downtime. The optional gym access is a rare bonus in a coworking space. The atmosphere is calm, the spaces are professional, and the Wi-Fi holds up.
The hours are a little particular: open from 10am to 8pm Monday to Thursday, but only from 3pm to 8pm on Friday, and from 10am to 8pm on Saturday. Closed Sunday. Saturday opening is a good point, but watch out for Friday mornings if you're planning to go.
Ideal if you want to combine work and a workout in the same place.
La Suite
Rue de la Pourvoierie, in the Notre-Dame neighbourhood. La Suite is a bookshop with a tea room — an original combination that works surprisingly well for working. The atmosphere is calm and warm, Wi-Fi is available, and the setting invites concentration. You order a tea, settle in among the shelves, and find yourself in a bubble conducive to deep work. The menu lets you eat without leaving.
Open every day from 11:30am to 10:30pm. These opening hours are exceptional in Versailles — it's one of the rare spots where you can work in the evening, including on weekends. If you have non-standard hours or prefer working at the end of the day, this is your place.
The spot for evening work sessions and weekends, in a literary and soothing setting.
Stop Work
Parvis Colonel Arnaud Beltrame, facing Versailles Chantiers station. Stop Work carries a misleading name: it's precisely the ideal place to start your working day. Located right in front of the station, it's ultra-accessible if you're commuting to Paris. Unlimited hot drinks, Wi-Fi, a secure locker, a winter garden, and a terrace — the comfort is there. The atmosphere is calm and studious.
The big advantage: open 24/7, 7 days a week. It's the only space in Versailles that gives you total flexibility over your hours. All-nighter on a project, 6am session, working Sunday — all of it is possible.
For those who need permanent access to a workspace, with no scheduling constraints.
The Stray Bean
Rue Royale, in the historic centre. The Stray Bean is an Australian-inspired coffee shop — cosy and relaxed. The atmosphere is warm, Wi-Fi is free, and you can sit down without a booking or a look over your shoulder. The coffee is good, the menu is affordable, and the setting makes you want to linger. It's the kind of place where you come for two hours and stay the whole morning.
Open Monday to Saturday from 8am (9:30am on Sunday), and until 5pm on weekdays (2:15pm on Monday, 5:30pm on Saturday). The hours are geared towards mornings and early afternoons — perfect for early birds who like to start the day in a good café.
The morning spot par excellence, with excellent coffee and zero pressure.
L'Orangerie de Monsieur
Rue du Maréchal Foch, in the city centre. L'Orangerie de Monsieur is a café-restaurant frequented by Versailles remote workers. The space is large, Wi-Fi is available, and the opening hours are impressive: open 7 days a week, from 5am to 10pm. You can arrive early in the morning for a coffee and stay until the evening.
It's less specifically aimed at work than a coworking space, and the atmosphere can be a little noisier at peak times. But for calm mornings or quiet late afternoons, it's a solid option with great scheduling flexibility.

And if you prefer the café atmosphere, The Stray Bean and La Suite offer two complementary options — one for mornings, the other for evenings.
