The 8th in May — that late-afternoon light on la Madeleine, the terraces of faubourg Saint-Honoré filling up from 5pm, and that density of premium coworking spaces that have invested in landscaped rooftop terraces. You'll find less of a neighbourhood-café feel than elsewhere in Paris, but in return you'll find work spaces with impeccable equipment, terraces designed by architects rather than improvised on the pavement.
We've done a full tour of the coworking spaces in the neighbourhood, wandered around la Madeleine and the Champs-Élysées, and found the genuinely good terraces for working — not a decorative balcony, but spaces where you can set up your laptop in peace. Here are seven addresses worth the detour on the western side.
Kwerk
Boulevard Malesherbes, Kwerk is a café coworking space with a confident vintage luxury style. Refined furniture, carefully considered lighting, and a setting that makes you feel like you're levelling up just by sitting down. The terrace is small but chic, and the interior does the heavy lifting.
Professional Wi-Fi, power outlets, quiet, large tables, food: everything's in place. Google rating of 4.7 from 40 reviews. It's more upscale than the neighbourhood average, and you feel that in the comfort as much as the price.
The spot for days when you want a setting that looks good on video calls without having to book a meeting room.
The Bureau
Cours Albert 1er, The Bureau bets on the Seine and Eiffel Tower view to set itself apart. A chic coworking space with concierge service, ultra-fast Wi-Fi, and premium services. The terrace makes the most of Cours Albert 1er, which is rare and precious in this area.
Everything is calibrated for serious sessions: power outlets, quiet, large tables, food. Google rating of 4.1 from over 100 reviews. Primarily aimed at freelancers who want a setting that makes a statement and can absorb the entry price.
Your go-to spot for a day where the quality of the setting is part of the deliverable.
Wojo Paris 8e — Madeleine
Boulevard Malesherbes, Wojo Madeleine is one of the network's flagship locations. Inspiring design, complete equipment (Wi-Fi, power outlets, phone booths, bar, restaurant, nap room), and several terraces that genuinely change the experience in summer.
The experience is calibrated for long days: you can move from the quiet room to the bar to the terrace depending on your mood. Google rating of 4.8 from 166 reviews. It's probably the most complete coworking space in the 8th in terms of variety of spaces.
Our favourite when you want to alternate between intense focus and a relaxing break without changing address.
Wojo Champs-Élysées
Rue Washington, Wojo Champs-Élysées offers seven floors, a central bar, and a large sunny terrace. The community is active, the mix of large companies and independents creates a lively atmosphere, and the terrace is a real draw in season.
Professional Wi-Fi, power outlets everywhere, refined atmosphere. Google rating of 4.6 from nearly 150 reviews. More geared towards large spaces than other Wojo locations — the right pick for those who like the energy of a big venue.
The spot for days when you want people around you without getting distracted.
Kwerk Saint Honoré
Rue de Courcelles, Kwerk Saint Honoré takes the concept even further than its Malesherbes counterpart. Soundproofed offices, comfortable shared spaces, fully equipped kitchens, gym facilities, and landscaped terraces with views over Paris.
Professional Wi-Fi, guaranteed quiet, decent food. Google rating of 4.9 from 40 reviews. The landscaped terrace is probably one of the most pleasant in the 8th, and the rooftop changes everything in season.
The spot for sessions where you want a setting that pulls you upward.
Morning Concorde
Rue Royale, Morning Concorde is an open-plan workspace set in the Hôtel de la Marine. The setting is quite remarkable: innovative design, and the proximity to museums, shopping and restaurants makes the neighbourhood workable for a full day.
Wi-Fi available, power outlets, large tables, food, refined atmosphere. Google rating of 4.7 from 35 reviews. The terrace takes full advantage of the exceptional location to offer a view that's hard to match.
The spot for a day when you want your work setting to be a sightseeing highlight too.
How to make the most of working on a terrace in the 8th
Three rules specific to this neighbourhood:
- Terraces open to the public are rare. The 8th's ecosystem revolves mostly around private coworking terraces. Plan your formula (day pass, subscription) based on how often you'll use it.
- The streets are noisy. A terrace on faubourg Saint-Honoré looks lovely but isn't compatible with a call. Go for rooftops and courtyard terraces instead.
- Shade is hard to come by in season. Look for landscaped or covered terraces, unless you're aiming for a short morning session.
