The 4th arrondissement is le Marais, Beaubourg, the Hôtel de Ville, and a slice of île Saint-Louis. A neighbourhood where cobbled streets meet art galleries, where tourists mix with Parisians rushing to the office, and where café terraces spill onto the pavements the moment the sun appears. It's also a great neighbourhood for getting work done — if you know the right addresses. Between the alleyways of the upper Marais and the banks of the Seine, we've found cafés, coworking spaces and hybrid venues that welcome laptops without hesitation.

The 4th has the advantage of being central, well connected (metro at Châtelet, Hôtel de Ville, Saint-Paul), and offering a genuine variety of spots. Here's our selection of 7 tested and approved places.

Le Titi Palacio

Boulevard Morland, on the Bastille side. Le Titi Palacio surprises you from the moment you walk in: a jungle of green plants, deep sofas, round tables, and an atmosphere that oscillates between a tropical living room and a neighbourhood canteen. During the day it's calm and bright. In the evening it transforms into a lively bar, but between 7am and 5pm it's an excellent spot for setting up your laptop.

Wi-Fi and power outlets are available, the large tables let you work comfortably, and the food menu holds up for lunch. Open 7 days a week from 7am — rare in the neighbourhood. Thursday to Saturday it stays open until 1am.

Great for early risers who want a green, relaxed setting for their work mornings.

Bibliothèque Forney

Rue du Figuier, inside a 15th-century private mansion, steps from the Seine and the Pont Marie. Bibliothèque Forney is a confidential address for nomadic workers. The interior is magnificent: exposed stone, high ceilings, light falling through tall windows. The quiet is almost monastic. You sit down, open your laptop, and the outside world disappears.

Wi-Fi available, power outlets accessible, large reading tables that make excellent work tables. It's free, which doesn't hurt. One thing to note: the hours are limited (Tuesday–Friday 11am–7pm) and it's closed at weekends, Mondays and public holidays. For focused weekday sessions in a historic, silent setting, it's flawless.

The ideal place for intense focus sessions, in a setting that cuts you off from the noise of the city.

My Cowork Beaubourg

Rue du Cloître Saint-Merri, literally in the shadow of Centre Pompidou. My Cowork is a flexible coworking space built on friendliness. The layout is well thought-out, the spaces are clearly divided between work zones and break areas, and hot drinks are unlimited. You can book a private office or meeting room if you have an important call.

Fast Wi-Fi, power outlets available, large tables. Open Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 7pm, and weekends from 10:30am to 7pm. Closed on Mondays. The option of coming on Saturdays and Sundays is a real plus for those working on personal projects at the weekend. The location, between Beaubourg and le Marais, is perfect for combining a work session with lunch in the neighbourhood.

For those who want accessible, human-scale coworking with weekend flexibility.

Le Peloton Café

Rue du Pont Louis-Philippe, between le Marais and île Saint-Louis. Le Peloton is an original concept: a café combined with a cycling club, with bikes for hire and décor that breathes cycling in every form. The atmosphere is relaxed, the room is bright, and the coffee is good. During the day it's calm and conducive to work, with a regular clientele who come as much for the coffee as for the atmosphere.

Wi-Fi and power outlets are there, the tables are fine for working. Open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm, weekends until 6pm. The location is great: you step outside, cross the bridge, and you're on île Saint-Louis for your break. For cycling fans and good coffee lovers looking for a work corner in the mornings.

A neighbourhood café with character, perfect for productive mornings.

Noir Coffee

Rue Saint-Louis en l'Île, on île Saint-Louis. Working on île Saint-Louis is a small luxury that Noir Coffee makes accessible. The ground floor is a classic café, but the basement is where it gets interesting: a fitted-out space with power outlets, quieter, and designed for those who plan to stay a while. The coffee is good, and the snack menu keeps you going.

Reliable Wi-Fi, power outlets in the basement. Open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm, and weekends from 9am to 7pm. Midday hours are slightly unusual (a break from noon to 12:30pm on some days), but nothing deal-breaking. If you want to work with the Seine quays on your doorstep when you step outside, this is the address.

For the pleasure of working on île Saint-Louis, with a fitted-out basement for longer sessions.

Terre de café

Rue des Blancs Manteaux, right in le Marais. Terre de café is an unusual space with hanging rattan swings for seats and décor that invites relaxation. The atmosphere is calming, the coffee is excellent, and the noise level stays reasonable. It's a place that makes you want to stay, where laptop workers are made welcome.

The atmosphere is clearly the strong point: calm, beautiful, and stimulating. Open Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 7pm, weekends from 9:30am to 7pm, closed on Mondays. If you're looking for a setting that stands out from the ordinary for your le Marais work afternoons, Terre de café is an excellent option.

The spot for those who want a cosy, original setting with great coffee as a bonus.
