The 11th is Oberkampf and its gently sloping streets, the Bastille and its hidden passages, the faubourg Saint-Antoine and its craftsmen's courtyards, Charonne and its village feel. A dense, lively, working-class neighbourhood in the best sense of the word, where cafés and community spaces have sprung up naturally to serve a population of freelancers, creatives and remote workers who've made it home. Between well-established Wi-Fi cafés, accessible coworking spaces and cultural community venues, the 11th offers a wide range of spots for getting work done. Here are our 9 best addresses.

Nomade Café

Rue Paul Bert, towards Nation. Nomade Café is THE work café of the 11th — the one everyone mentions, and for good reason. The space is large, there are plenty of tables, the atmosphere is studious without being oppressive, and the whole place is designed to welcome people who are working. You push the door open and see open laptops everywhere, focused people, and a calm, productive energy that pulls you in immediately. The coffee is good, the menu is sweet-only, and the prices are gentle.

Solid Wi-Fi, power outlets everywhere, large tables, and a quiet that holds even during busy hours. Open 7 days a week, from 8 am to 6 pm on weekdays, 9 am at weekends. The kind of go-to spot you come back to every week without tiring of it.

Our favourite in the 11th, and probably one of the best work cafés in all of Paris.

Le Grand Bréguet

Rue Bréguet, a stone's throw from Bréguet-Sabin metro, on the Bastille side. Le Grand Bréguet is a friendly place with a large indoor space, a pleasant terrace and the atmosphere of a neighbourhood café with real character. The interior is spacious, the tables are large, and you can settle in for a morning or a full day. The place radiates good vibes, with a friendly service and a mixed crowd.

Free Wi-Fi, power outlets, large tables, and accessible prices. Open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to midnight (1:30 am on Fridays), Saturday from 9 am. Closed on Sundays. The late opening is a real plus for finishing a piece of work in the evening.

Back In Black

Rue Amelot, in the Bastille neighbourhood. Back In Black is a spacious café with large tables, a well-kept decor and homemade dishes that hit the mark. The space is airy, light comes in well through the windows, and the atmosphere is both relaxed and productive. You can spread out at a large table without bothering anyone — a luxury in Paris.

Wi-Fi available, power outlets accessible, terrace for sunny days, and a good menu for lunch. Open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4:30 pm, weekends until 6 pm. The closing time on weekdays is a little early, but for morning and afternoon work sessions it's great.

Onzième lieu

Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud, on the Oberkampf side. The name says it all: it's a community space rooted in the 11th, blending café, coworking, photography studio and shared workshop. The atmosphere is communal without being hippy, studious without being rigid, and the place attracts a clientele of freelancers and project founders who come here to work seriously. The tables are large, the quiet is there, and the space is well designed for collaborative or solo work.

Wi-Fi, power outlets, large tables, and accessible prices. Open Tuesday to Thursday from 9 am to 8 pm, Friday until 6 pm. Closed at weekends and on Mondays.

La Maison des Métallos

Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud, a little further up from Onzième lieu. La Maison des Métallos is a cultural community space with performance halls, a bar, and open areas for working. The place has character: it's a converted former factory, with beautiful volumes and a unique atmosphere. You can come and open your laptop in the café, use the Wi-Fi and power outlets, and work in a setting that has real personality.

The big plus: access is free. Wi-Fi and power outlets are available, and the place is quiet during the day. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 2 pm to 7 pm. Closed on Sundays and Mondays. The limited hours make it more of an afternoon spot.

KO WORKING

Rue Amelot, still on the Bastille side. KO WORKING is a 120 m² coworking space that ticks all the boxes: very high-speed Wi-Fi, meeting rooms, a lounge area, and unlimited coffee. The atmosphere is friendly and professional at the same time, with a team that welcomes freelancers and small teams. The space is well laid out, the chairs are comfortable, and the noise level stays low.

Seven Heaven

Rue de la Forge Royale, in the Nation neighbourhood. Seven Heaven is a friendly and welcoming café where remote workers (and dogs) are made to feel at home. The space is warm, the decor is nice, and the atmosphere is that of a small neighbourhood café that does things right. The coffee is good, the pastries too, and the staff are lovely.

Place de la Nation. Les Piaules is a youth hostel with a bar open to everyone, and a surprisingly pleasant setting for working.
