Mulhouse is the Alsatian city that doesn't pretend. Less touristy than Strasbourg or Colmar, it has an unabashedly industrial charm and a dynamism that translates into a solid economic fabric. The Place de la Réunion with its colourful facades, the station quarter undergoing transformation, and the Technopole concentrating innovative companies — Mulhouse offers an original work setting for a city of its size. Freelancers from the Haut-Rhin, remote employees taking advantage of proximity to Switzerland and Germany, students from the UHA — everyone can find their spot.

What's interesting about Mulhouse is this mix between structured coworking spaces on the Technopole side and cosy tea rooms in the centre. Prices are reasonable, the city is compact, and the atmosphere is less stiff than in the big metropolises. We've toured the addresses and tracked down the places worth the visit. Here are 10 spots for getting work done in Mulhouse.

Le 34 - Technopole Mulhouse

Rue Marc Seguin, in the Technopole zone. Le 34 is a versatile coworking space set within the Mulhouse Technopole. The place is calm, bright, and well equipped: open-plan desks, private offices, meeting rooms, fast Wi-Fi, power outlets everywhere, and reasonable prices. The atmosphere is studious and professional, with a mix of startups and independents that creates a stimulating dynamic.

Recommended by Femik, Mulhouse.blog, 1001 Salles, Le Bon Coworking, and Coworking-France. Open Tuesday to Friday from 8am to 7pm (6:30pm on Fridays). Closed at weekends and Mondays. It's one of the most widely cited coworking spaces in Mulhouse — and for good reason: the equipment is comprehensive, the setting is pleasant, and the rates are reasonable.

Our favourite for a well-equipped coworking space in a professional and stimulating setting.

Le Temps d'une Pause

Rue de la Moselle, in the city centre. Le Temps d'une Pause is a cosy tea room and café with large comfortable sofas that invite you to settle in for hours. Wi-Fi is available, large tables let you spread out your laptop, and the atmosphere is calm and hushed. The menu offers teas, coffees, and pastries that make the snack break irresistible.

Recommended by Mon Week-end en Alsace and Birds and Bicycles in their selections of Mulhouse's best tea rooms. Open Tuesday to Sunday (10am on weekdays, 9am at weekends), until 6pm (8pm on Thursdays). Closed Mondays. The sofas are the real draw here — perfect for reading or relaxed working sessions.

The spot for long work sessions in a cosy setting, sunk into a big sofa.

Café Mozart

Place de la Réunion, right in the historic centre. Café Mozart is an elegant tea room on the first floor, with a view over Mulhouse's most beautiful square. The atmosphere is calm and refined, the pastry selection is by Maison Jacques (a local institution), and the setting lends itself to peaceful work sessions. The upstairs location makes all the difference — above the bustle of the square, you work in quiet with a beautiful view.

Recommended by Mon Week-end en Alsace. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 8:45am (11:30am on Mondays), until 6:30pm. Closed Sundays. It's more of a contemplative than strictly productive spot, but for days when you want a beautiful setting and quality pastries, it's the right call.

For working at a calm pace with a view of the Place de la Réunion and quality pastries.

Les Arcades d'Omnino

Avenue du Maréchal Foch, in the centre. Les Arcades d'Omnino is an Alsatian micro-roastery under pink arcades, with a warm atmosphere and vintage-inspired decor. The coffee is roasted on-site — this is quality specialty coffee. Wi-Fi is available, the terrace is pleasant in fine weather, and the atmosphere lends itself to working between cups.

Recommended by Birds and Bicycles and Discover Kava. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm. Closed Sunday and Monday. It's a café first and foremost, but laptops are naturally welcome and the coffee quality is a genuine argument.

The spot for specialty coffee lovers who want to work in a warm setting.

Coworking Le Carré du Technopole

Rue Marc Seguin, next to Le 34. Le Carré du Technopole offers shared workstations and professional services in the same area as Le 34. Wi-Fi, power outlets, and a functional setting suited to work. It's a complementary option if Le 34 is full.

Recommended by Coworking-France and Workin.space. Open Tuesday to Friday from 8am to 6pm (5pm on Fridays), with a lunch break from 12pm to 2pm. Closed at weekends and Mondays. A functional, well-positioned space in the Technopole ecosystem.

A functional coworking space in the Technopole zone, as a complement to Le 34.

Hotel Holiday Inn Mulhouse

Rue Paul Cézanne, on the outskirts. The Mulhouse Holiday Inn offers a coworking space with Wi-Fi and power outlets. It's a backup option if you're in the area or staying at the hotel, with a functional and discreet setting.

Recommended by Coworking-France. The advantage is availability — you can drop in without a reservation. The downside is the peripheral location and the absence of any community.

A fallback option on the outskirts, convenient if you're already in the area.

Maison Monsieur

Passage de l'Hôtel de Ville, in the centre. Maison Monsieur is a secret tea room hidden inside a home decor shop. The space is hushed, warm, and the atmosphere is ideal for quiet conversation or undisturbed work. It's a confidential spot that regulars pass on to each other — small, intimate, and full of charm.

Recommended by Birds and Bicycles. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 7pm. Closed Sunday and Monday. It's small, so finding a table isn't always easy — but if you do, you won't want to leave.

Fablab Technistub

Rue des Flandres, in the Fonderie neighbourhood. Technistub is a fablab and community space offering workspaces and creative facilities. Wi-Fi and power outlets are available, and the atmosphere is that of a makers' space — you'll rub shoulders with people prototyping, tinkering, and creating. It's a stimulating environment if you work in design, engineering, or creative fields.

Recommended by Coworking-France. Hours vary: Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 5:30pm, Wednesday and Friday from 2pm to 10pm, Saturday from 2pm to 6pm. Closed Sunday and Monday. The Wednesday and Friday evenings are a bonus for makers who work during the day and create in the evenings.

A fablab for creative and technical profiles who want a workspace and prototyping facility.

Tilvist

Rue de la Moselle, in the centre. Tilvist is a gourmet, cosy tea room with a warm welcome and house-made pastries. The atmosphere is calm, the setting is pleasant, and the place invites you to linger. It's a spot for relaxed work sessions rather than intense deep work, but the charm of the place more than compensates.

Recommended by Birds and Bicycles and the JDS. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30am to 6pm (2pm on Mondays). Closed Sundays. The house-made pastries are a genuine reason to visit — and to come back.
