Annecy — the turquoise lake, mountains as a backdrop, and an old town with canals that earn it the nickname "Venice of the Alps". It's also a city where more and more remote workers are putting down roots, drawn in by an exceptional quality of life. The market, the quays, the rue Sainte-Claire with its arcades, the Pâquier facing the lake — Annecy has that rare ability to make you feel like you're on holiday when you're actually working. Freelancers, remote employees, entrepreneurs who've left Lyon or Paris for the mountains: the community of remote workers in Annecy is alive and growing.
The flip side is that the cost of living is high — property in particular. But on the work spots side, Annecy is well equipped. Coworking spaces have multiplied, a few cafés welcome laptops, and the natural setting offers outdoor options few French cities can match. We've done a tour of the lake (well, the city), tested the Wi-Fi, and here are our 10 favourite spots.
La Cordée
Rue Saint-François de Sales, near the quays, right in the centre. La Cordée is a name that resonates in the coworking world — the network is present in several French cities, and the Annecy branch doesn't disappoint. The space is warm, the desks are nice, and the manager is known for her investment in the community. The real luxury: a secret terrace, tucked away at the back, perfect for sunny breaks or outdoor calls. Reliable Wi-Fi, power outlets everywhere, large tables.
Open Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. Closed weekends. Recommended by Passion Télétravail and Annecy Classic Festival in their selections. The location near the quays is a treat — you can go stretch your legs by the lake in five minutes. The coworking community is active and welcoming, which helps when you arrive in town and don't know anyone.
Our first choice for its exceptional location, its secret terrace and its tight-knit community.
The 7th Element
Rue de Narvik, centrally located. The 7th Element is a colourful and cosy working café that offers a simple and attractive deal: unlimited hot and cold drinks, included in the price. You pay for your workstation, then help yourself as much as you want — coffee, tea, hot chocolate, flavoured water. The space is well thought out with four meeting rooms for calls and video meetings, solid Wi-Fi, power outlets everywhere, and large work tables.
24/7 access in the week for members — a real plus for off-peak hours. Closed weekends. Recommended by Passion Télétravail. The atmosphere is warm and the energy is good — the kind of place where you feel productive as soon as you sit down, carried by the activity of the other coworkers around you.
The working café with unlimited drinks and meeting rooms, for those who want everything in one place.
Carav'Annecy
Chemin de la Prairie, easily accessible from the city centre. Carav'Annecy is an intimate, human-sized workspace — you're not a number in a 100-seat open space. The space has phone booths for your calls, unlimited hot drinks, and reliable Wi-Fi. The atmosphere is quiet and studious, and the small size creates a pleasant closeness between coworkers without being intrusive.
Open Monday to Friday, 8am–8pm. The hours are generous — you can start early and finish late without stress. Closed weekends. Power outlets are available, and the setting is designed to make you feel well set up for long sessions. If you prefer small spaces to large coworking spaces, Carav'Annecy is for you.
The intimate space with unlimited drinks and phone booths, for those who prefer human-sized coworking.
Slake Annecy
Rue Sommeiller, in the city centre. Slake is an authentic coffee shop with specialty coffee and creative home-made food. The atmosphere is relaxed, the setting is carefully curated, and the Wi-Fi works. If you're the type who chooses a work spot based on the quality of the coffee they serve, Slake is probably your best option in Annecy. The beans are roasted with care, the baristas know what they're doing, and the home-made snack menu is a treat.
Open every day: Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 6pm, Saturday until 6:30pm, and Sunday until 5pm. Being open seven days a week is a real plus in a city where coworking spaces close at weekends. The atmosphere is quiet, the volume stays low, and the setting is pleasant without being stuffy.
The specialty coffee shop open seven days a week, for coffee lovers who also want to work on the weekend.
Le Transfo
Avenue des Harmonies, in the Cran-Gevrier area (a commune merged with Annecy). Le Transfo is a bright open space with a 60 m² terrace that serves as a second office in good weather. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the diversity of professionals present creates an interesting dynamic — you'll meet developers, consultants, craftspeople, and creatives. Wi-Fi, power outlets, and a terrace that changes everything when the sun is out.
Open Monday to Friday, 9am–6pm. Closed weekends. The 60 m² terrace is Le Transfo's main argument: it's one of the few coworking spaces in the area where you can work outside in a setting designed for it, with adapted furniture and a connection that keeps up.
The coworking space with the largest terrace in Annecy, for working outside when the alpine weather allows.
La Jardinerie Coworking
Rue de l'Industrie, in the city centre. La Jardinerie offers a flexible concept: nomad zones for day visitors, private cabins for those who need isolation, and meeting rooms for video calls and appointments. The fibre is "turbocharged" — their word — which promises serious bandwidth. Wi-Fi, power outlets, quiet, large tables — the essentials are there.
Open Wednesday to Friday only, 8:30am–6:30pm. The hours are restricted — three days a week — but if you're free on those slots, La Jardinerie offers a flexible, well-thought-out workspace. The private cabins are a nice concept for days when you need to completely shut yourself off.
The flexible coworking space with private cabins and ultra-fast fibre, for productive Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Le Bouleau
Route de Nanfray, in the Cran-Gevrier area, close to the A41 motorway. Le Bouleau is a calm, bright shared space of 100 m² with 8 desks. The small size guarantees absolute quiet — no open-space buzz here. The free private parking is an asset for those coming by car, and the proximity to the A41 is practical if you travel around the region.
Open Monday to Friday, 8am–7pm. Closed weekends. Reliable Wi-Fi, power outlets, and a studious environment. Le Bouleau is for those who want a quiet, small space without the distractions of a large coworking space. The 8 desks create a small collective atmosphere where everyone gets to know each other.
The small, quiet coworking space with parking, for those who want tranquillity and come by car.
Goodmoods
Rue Louis Armand. Goodmoods is a hybrid concept unlike anything else: a coworking space combined with a beauty salon. The idea is to combine productivity and wellbeing in one place. Wi-Fi, power outlets, and a carefully curated setting. You can work in the morning and follow it up with a treatment in the afternoon, or simply enjoy the zen atmosphere of the place for your work sessions.
Open Monday to Saturday, 9am–7pm. The Saturday opening is a bonus. The concept is original and attracts a clientele that appreciates this holistic approach to wellbeing at work. The atmosphere is calm and soothing — not surprising given the concept.
The wellbeing coworking space for those who want to combine productivity and relaxation in one place.
Pêle coworking
Rue François Lévêque, in the city centre. Pêle is a dynamic coworking space that bets on a collaborative environment. The space is well equipped with Wi-Fi, power outlets, large tables, and an active working atmosphere. The place welcomes both local entrepreneurs and visiting workers who need a desk for a few days or a few weeks.
