Its Croisette, its beaches and its glamour: Cannes is an iconic holiday destination on the Côte d'Azur. And, a pleasant surprise, behind the glitter the city hides a real specialty coffee scene where it is nice to set up your laptop for a few hours. If you need to fit in some work during your stay, here are our addresses for working quietly in the morning before enjoying the beach and the old Suquet district.
Cannes may be famous for its festivals and luxury, but it is a human-sized city where everything is done on foot. Specialty coffee shops have multiplied there in recent years, driven by regulars and remote workers. Outside festival season, the city is surprisingly peaceful in the morning, ideal for a focused session. And if you want a change of scenery, the Lérins Islands or neighbouring Antibes are a short hop away, perfect for a break once your work is done.
Work in the morning, enjoy the Croisette afterwards
As everywhere on the coast, aim early. Between 8am and 11am, Cannes cafes are quiet, the wifi holds up well and the heat has not arrived yet. You wrap up your important tasks, then close the laptop for the beach, the Croisette or a walk in Le Suquet. This morning slot is the most efficient and coolest: perfect for getting things done without breaking a sweat.
Our cafes to work from
Cannes is a cafe city, and the quality is there. Copenhagen Coffee Lab is our favourite address for a morning of work: excellent coffee and beautiful light. AMAMO Speciality Coffee also focuses on specialty coffee in a bright, well-kept setting. And The Lady Coffee, on rue d'Antibes, completes the trio, open from 10am to 7pm. Settle in early, order enough to stay, and keep a mobile hotspot handy for your video calls.
For a more serious day
Cannes is more cafe-oriented than coworking-oriented. For an important video call or a big day, the simplest option is to aim for a calm cafe during off-peak hours, or to take a look at the other options in our guide where to work in Cannes. Also bring a mobile hotspot as a backup for the meetings you cannot miss.
Cannes in summer: in the shade in the morning
The Côte d'Azur sun is generous: south-facing terraces quickly become unbearable for working in the afternoon. In the morning, enjoy a shaded terrace while it is still mild; in the hot hours, retreat indoors. For very hot days, our tips are in working in the cool.
Plan your workation
